What We Can Achieve Together:

The External Affairs Officer coordinate and implement initiatives such as organizational knowledge management, internal procedures, network operation, and project coordination. The External Affairs Officer help to develop strategic partnerships with relevant agencies and conservation organizations to advance The Nature Conservancy’s conservation agenda. They serve as a liaison and informational contact between TNC and governments, agencies, and research institutions. They build and facilitate networks, coordinate meetings, agendas, and presentations, and conduct other activities in support of a program and/or manager. The External Affairs Officer help to provide research and policy analysis in support of TNC policy practice priorities and track policies and decisions that directly affect conservation goals.




We’re Looking for You:

• Further develops TNC’s policy-engagement partnerships with government agencies, academia, and think-tanks.

• Supports the implementation of government relations engagement plans including maintaining conservation network, organizing meetings, political engagement opportunities and government participation in TNC events.

• Works with conservation teams to track the policy trend and conduct policy research.

• Follows up on the public fund opportunities and collaborate with conservation teams for application and management.

• Manages TNC’s internal systems and processes to ensure that our government engagement activities are well coordinated, tracked and documented utilizing CRM.


What You’ll Bring:

• Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 2 years related work experience or equivalent combination.

• Fluency in English and Mandarin.

• Experience researching information from divergent sources and compiling it into a cohesive reporting structure.

• Experience writing and editing promotional and informational material.

• Experience presenting to and communicating with internal and external audiences.

• Experience working with partners/government agencies.  

• Experience interacting with senior leadership in a professional manner.


DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Multi-cultural experience appreciated.

• Strong written and oral communication skills.

• Experience coordinating complex projects in a decentralized organization, working across teams, operating units and functions to achieve optimal results.  

• Experience building networks, facilitating informational sessions, increasing internal knowledge and capacity, and identifying key stakeholders.  

• Experience, coursework, or other training in government agencies, government relations or public funds.

• Self-starting, independent worker who can thrive in a decentralized organization with minimal oversight.

• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

• Some supervisory experience.
