                                                        TERMS OF REFERENCE

World Children's Day (WCD) is UNICEF's flagship annual global advocacy moment, bringing together children, young people, partners, supporters and governments to champion children's rights and amplify children's voices worldwide. In parallel, UNICEF80 marks a significant milestone in UNICEF's history, providing a unique opportunity to celebrate eight decades of advancing the rights and well-being of children while inspiring renewed commitment to UNICEF's mission for the future.

In China, the theme for WCD 2026 is UNICEF@80. Offline and online activities across the country will be organized in the run-up to the moment and on the day. To support the demand for impactful event and timely content production, UNICEF China’s Communication Section is seeking a consultant. The selected candidate will contribute to the creation of WCD content, event coordination, and media engagement that strengthen visibility, increase audience engagement and support UNICEF China's advocacy and communication objectives for WCD, UNICEF80 and related campaigns and initiatives over the period.

  • Minimum requirements:
  • Education: Bachelor`s university degree in Communication, Journalism, Advertising, Marketing, English
  • Work Experience: 1 year (internship included)
  • Skills (optional):
  • Strong understanding of event production processes, including run‑of‑show design, venue setup, and live coordination for hybrid and large‑scale events.
  • Proven ability to produce high‑quality multimedia content such as photo books, videos, social media packs.
  • Skilled in translation of press releases, speeches, and social media assets into Chinese, ensuring accuracy and cultural relevance.
  • Experience in stakeholder liaison and coordination, with the capacity to manage multiple partners, vendors, and performers under tight timelines.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to deliver outputs on time and to a high professional standard.
  • Excellent communication skills in both English and Chinese.
  • Language Requirements: Fluency in both English and Chinese
  • Desirables:
  • Prior experience working with UNICEF or other United Nations agencies, demonstrating familiarity with UN protocols, branding, and partnership approaches
  • Proven track record in organizing large‑scale offline events, showcasing the ability to manage complex logistics, diverse stakeholders, and high‑profile audiences.
