Essential job functions for the position:

• Conducts research on a broad range of topics at the country and international level including rural land rights, climate change, gender equality, environmental and social responsibilities in international trade and global supply chains, etc.
• Conducts research on Chinese policies, regulations and best practices at the national or provincial/county or grassroots level in areas of rural development, gender development, climate change mitigation and adaptation, and carbon market development etc.
• Prepares literature review, memoranda or other written work products presenting and explaining research results.
• Translation and interpretation upon request.
• Carries out miscellaneous administrative tasks and other duties in support of the Program team, depending upon the needs of the Organization.

Background/Qualifications Preferred：

• A deep commitment to the mission of a better, safer future for the world's poorest people through secured land property rights and gender development.
• Have completed at least one year of post-graduate level education relevant to Landesa's work (e.g. international development, social sciences, rural economics, public affairs, law school, economics, and journalism, etc.)
• Experience and/or shown interest in international development, laws relevant to rural populations, and issues in transitioning economies.
• English fluency is preferred.
• Be proficient in Microsoft Office and Internet. Ability to use electronic legal and/or social science research tools preferred.
