Our projects span global academic networks, digital economic cities initiatives, youth - led innovation programs, and multi - stakeholder events. We seek an experienced and visionary Project Manager to spearhead our impactful initiatives and contribute to global sustainable development at a strategic level.

Travel Requirement: Regular international travel to locations such as Geneva, Nairobi, and other global hubs as project needs arise
Key Responsibilities
1. Program Management
• Strategy Alignment & Innovation: Develop and manage the SDGs Center’s program activities in strict alignment with its long - term strategy and evolving priorities. Lead end - to - end program strategy formulation, including identifying emerging trends in sustainable development to innovate program frameworks. Oversee detailed planning, rigorous monitoring, and seamless implementation of complex, multi - year projects.
• Project Implementation & Local Adaptation: Spearhead the execution of high - impact priority projects and activities within China, ensuring deep alignment with the SDG Center’s core focuses (capacity building, cutting - edge research, international partnerships, youth empowerment, AI for sustainable development, and climate change mitigation/adaptation). Proactively identify and incubate new program opportunities that not only address but anticipate the needs and interests of Chinese local governments and align with global SDG advancements.
• Team Leadership & Quality Assurance: Supervise a team of program officers and specialists in priority areas. Provide strategic leadership, mentorship, and hands - on guidance to the team. Establish and enforce rigorous quality standards, conducting regular reviews to ensure the delivery of industry - leading program outputs that set benchmarks in the SDG space.
2. Partnership Development
• Strategic Ecosystem Building: Identify and cultivate high - value strategic partnership prospects across diverse sectors. Develop and sustain long - term, mutually transformative relationships with key partners, including sovereign donor agencies, intergovernmental bodies, multinational corporations, and high - impact non - governmental institutions.
• Alliance Leadership & Integration: Take a leadership role in the growth and evolution of the Global Digital Economy Cities Alliances (DEC40) membership (cities, UN agencies, Fortune 500 tech companies). Drive the development of innovative services within the alliance and fully integrate the membership strategy into program formulation, creating synergies that amplify the reach and impact of SDG initiatives on a global scale.
3. Resource Mobilization
• Funding Strategy & Diversification: Lead a comprehensive resource mobilization strategy for program operations. Identify, nurture, and secure funding from a diverse portfolio of sources, including bilateral/multilateral donors, impact investors, and corporate social responsibility funds. Incubate new funding models and opportunities in priority program areas to ensure financial resilience and scalability of programs.
• Resource Stewardship: Oversee the optimal allocation and management of mobilized resources, ensuring transparency, efficiency, and maximum impact in line with organizational and donor goals.
4. Strategy and Administration
• Governance Collaboration & Thought Leadership: Work in close, strategic tandem with advisory committees and academic committees composed of global SDG experts. Provide high - level, visionary inputs for the strategic planning of programs, overall organizational strategy development, and budget allocation processes. Contribute to thought leadership initiatives that shape the global narrative around SDG implementation.
• Operational Excellence: Partner with the Executive Director to overhaul and strengthen the center’s administration and operational frameworks. Drive process optimization, digital transformation, and the adoption of best practices to ensure the center operates at peak efficiency in support of SDG goals.
Requirements
1. Education
• Hold a Master’s degree or higher (or equivalent) in international development, public policy, environmental studies, or a closely related field. A PhD or executive education from a top - tier global institution in sustainable development or related disciplines is highly preferred.
2. Experience
• Possess a minimum of 8–10 years of progressive, hands - on experience in program/project management, with a strong focus on large - scale, complex international development or SDG - centric initiatives.
• Have a proven track record of leading multi - million - dollar programs from conception to successful, sustainable implementation, with a history of delivering award - winning or highly acclaimed program outputs.
• Demonstrate extensive experience in stakeholder management at the highest levels, including building and maintaining strategic partnerships with sovereign governments, major donor agencies (e.g., World Bank, UNDP), global NGOs, and multinational corporations.
• Showcase a history of success in innovative resource mobilization, including securing large - scale funding (seven - figure and above) from diverse sources and developing new funding mechanisms for sustainable development programs.
3. Knowledge and Familiarity
• Be a recognized expert in SDG priorities, with in - depth knowledge spanning capacity building, advanced research methodologies, youth empowerment frameworks, AI for social good, and climate change mitigation/adaptation strategies. Have a deep understanding of the Chinese policy landscape and local government needs, along with the ability to align global SDG frameworks with China’s national and sub - national development agendas.
4. Language Proficiency
• Exhibit fluency in English (both written and verbal) at a level that enables effective communication and negotiation in high - stakes international development forums. Native or near - native proficiency in Chinese is mandatory, with experience in drafting and negotiating official documents in Chinese with government and institutional stakeholders.
5. Soft Skills
• Demonstrate exceptional leadership skills, with a proven ability to inspire and lead high - performing, multicultural teams. Have a track record of fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and excellence within teams.
• Possess outstanding strategic thinking and problem - solving abilities, with the capacity to navigate complex, ambiguous environments and develop creative solutions to advance SDG goals.
• Show a willingness to travel internationally frequently (up to 50% of the time) to support on - site activities in locations like Geneva, Nairobi, and other global hubs, and to represent the center in high - level international forums.
