About the company

The European Union Chamber of Commerce in China was founded in 2000 by 51 member companies that shared a goal of establishing a common voice for the various business sectors of the European Union and European businesses operating in China. It is a members-driven, non-profit, fee-based organisation with a core structure of 23 Working Groups and 11 Fora representing European business in China.

Job description

The Office Manager of Shenyang Chapter manages our operations in Shenyang, reporting to the Secretary General. The main responsibilities are:

·     Develop and manage an attractive program of business and business-social events for members of the European Chamber in Shenyang

·     Increase membership of the Chamber in Shenyang

·     Develop excellent relations on behalf of the Chamber with local government, media and other organizations

·     Develop local Chamber Working Groups and Forums

·     Manage the process to write the Annual Position Paper for Shenyang

·     Organize regular meetings with influential local media

·     Manage the Shenyang Chapter to ensure it operates within the overall objectives and policies of the European Chamber; manage local supplier relations, petty cash and timely reporting to head office

·     Coordinate with national team on membership and marketing; make sure that the overall branding of the Chamber is properly implemented locally

·     Facilitate the functioning of the Local Board including monthly meetings and the annual general meeting and election process of the local Board

·     Attend the monthly meetings of the Board; prepare the documents for the Board meetings and write the Minutes of these meetings.

·     Manage Shenyang Chapter’s overall financial income and expenses to make sure that annual budget is reached.

·     Support the local Board for the development of the Chamber’s strategy in Shenyang and contribute to all-China European Chamber strategy and planning as part of the national management team.

·     Maintain contact with the European Consulates in Shenyang

·     Further develop the Chapter’s activities into other cities, if the strategy requires so

Skills & experience

·         3 years minimum of related government, business, or organizational experience

·         3 years minimum of related China experience

·         3 years minimum of management experience

·         Understanding of China’s business and regulatory environment

·         Outstanding interpersonal and organization skills

·         Excellent writing and presentational skills

·         Experience in working with the Chinese Government

·         Good understanding of Chinese and European institutions

·         Good understanding and appreciation of the nature of non-profit, membership based organizations

·         University degree in economics, law, business, or politics or related work experience (Masters Degree Preferred)

·         Energetic, proactive, and team player attitude

·         Flexible working hours

·         Near native fluency in English

·         Chinese Language abilities highly desirable

·         Knowledge of other European Languages is an asset

·         Computer literacy (Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point, Internet Explorer)
