Spark:Her Startup Academy


The Spark:Her Startup Academy is a special program for women to explore and develop business ideas that address social and environmental problems in China. It is especially for women who have the motivation to make it happen in the future – but are not fully ready yet. Through experiential learning, exchange with passionate peers and engagement with leading experts participants will gain the vision, confidence and skills to turn their ideas into a successful venture.
The key objective is to support women to identify their passion, clarify whether they want to become an entrepreneur and provide them with the knowledge how to start a social enterprise.
Who should attend?
You might have 10 different ideas how to improve social development in China and don’t know which to choose to start up. Or you have the strong desire to address social issues but you might not know yet how yet how you can get involved with your skills and expertise.

Trainer:
Andrea Lane - Executive Director, FYSE
Andrea founded FYSE in 2008. Previously to FYSE Andrea worked as Head of Project Management and Outreach for Enterprise Asia, a leading regional think tank for entrepreneurship in Asia. As part of her role she established the organizations presence in Indonesia and China. Andrea has extensive start-up and management experience in Bangladesh, China, Indonesia, Hong Kong and Malaysia. She holds a MSc in East Asian Studies from the University of Bristol and graduated from INSEAD’s International Social Entrepreneur Program in Singapore.
Lucy Yang - Program Officer, FYSE
Lucy joined FYSE in 2013 responsible for the Spark:Her conference series across China. When pursuing her master degree in Minzu University of China, she worked as the project executive of a local teaching material collecting and research project sponsored by Oxfam for a year and led the team of ten postgraduate students to organize numerous volunteer activities. Lucy graduated from Minzu University of China with a Master in Ethnic Minority Education and from Beijing International Studies University (BISU) with a major in English (Translation and Interpreting).

Host Organization:
Philanthropy and Social Innovation Studio of Fudan Univeristy (复旦⼤学公益慈善和社会创新工作室)is established to promote teaching and research in the field of philanthropy, social entrepreneurship and social innovation and provide students trainings and activities in these respects.
Volunteer Department of Fudan University Youth League (共青团复旦大学委员会青年志愿者工作部)leads and manages volunteer activities, such as competitions and philanthropic projects, with an aim to expand students’ horizon and hone their skills.
FYSE (芳新) is on the mission to promote and support entrepreneurship as a powerful driver for job creation, innovation and sustainable economic and social development in developing and emerging markets.
