Review of School-Based Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE) Implementation in China
UNESCO and UNFPA are calling for proposal for a review of school-based Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE) implementation in China. Interested research institute/researchers shall submit their application to hy.li@unesco.org before 5pm, 15 June 2014. The application documents shall include:
• A narrative report on the strengths and competitive advantage of the applicant in conducting the research in light of the above-listed selection criteria
• Composition of the research team, especially profile of the main researcher(s)
• A proposed research plan based on objectives, tasks and deliverables specified in the attached Terms of Reference
• A realistic and reasonable estimation of budget breakdown
• If available, examples of previous similar research reports
All application documents shall be in English (compulsory), preferably in both English and Chinese, with the exception of examples of relevant previous research reports which can be in either English or Chinese.
Criteria for the national research group
• Identify and be familiar with comprehensive sexuality education (CSE), with good understanding of sexual and reproductive health issues of young people in China
• Have good understanding and conceptualization of gender and rights, including children’s rights in China
• Proven expertise in conducting formative research
• Prior experience in conducting surveys/reviews, including sampling methodologies.
• Preference for organizations that have prior experience in conducting school-based surveys in China and have access to schools
• Prior experience in conducting research in a participatory manner, with proven facilitation skills
• Prior experience working with multiple stakeholders in designing and conducting surveys.
• Prior experience in obtaining ethical board review clearances for surveys/reviews. Universities / research institutions with internal review board (IRB) mechanisms for ethical clearance are preferred.
• Excellent command of the English and Chinese languages with quality written and verbal communication skills.
Decision-making
All applications will be reviewed during the period of 16 to 20 June 2014. Shortlisted applicants will be invited for a face-to-face interview during 23 to 27 June 2014 before the final selection takes place.
Both successful and unsuccessful applicants will be notified about the selection outcome.
