It is our pleasure to announce that the U.S. Embassy in Beijing is currently seeking proposals for the U.S. Ambassador's Fund for Cultural Preservation (AFCP) 2010 competition.  This is the only program in the U.S. government that provides direct small grant support to heritage preservation in less developed countries.

The program was established by the U.S. Congress in 2001.  Funded projects include technical support for the restoration of historic buildings;assessment and conservation of museum collections; archaeological site preservation; documentation to save threatened traditional crafts; improved storage conditions for archives and manuscripts; recording oral history; and documentation of indigenous languages.

The U.S. Embassy and Consulates General in China advertise the program through website notices and also by sending announcements to contacts working in the area of cultural heritage preservation throughout China.
