[Core Duties]
- Develop and execute strategic comms plans to amplify Greenpeace East Asia's campaigns, including co-creating stories with campaign teams, proactively pitching English broadcast and print media
- Develop and maintain close, productive relationships with key journalists and broadcasters in international traditional media particularly in the East Asia region
- Identify opportunities for proactive and reactive communications and coordinate with other departments, Greenpeace offices and Greenpeace International to implement project strategy and work plan
- Develop and draft crisis plans, media strategies, reactive media statements, talking points, FAQs, memos, crisis simulations and other deliverables as needed for crisis response
- Stay abreast of the latest trends in communications, traditional and new media, and identify opportunities to adapt Greenpeace work accordingly
[Desired Skills and Experiences]
- A keen news sense, critical thinker, adherence to deadlines and efficiency, creative storyteller
- English proficiency of native speaking and writing level with knowledge of at least one of the East Asian languages, including Korean, Japanese, or Mandarin Chinese
- Background in journalism, knowledge of NGO work, and network of English speaking correspondents especially in the East Asia region
- Minimum 3-4 years of experiences in publishing press releases, statements, OPEDs, liaising and creating stories for TVs and/or radio/podcast shows with key international media outlets such as BBC, CNN, Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg, etc
- Team player, can-do attitude, attention to detail, proactive, interpersonal skills and relationship building
- Knowledge of geopolitics, especially the socio-political environment in East Asia
[Contract type]
This is a regional position, so the contract period varies depending on the location.
- Korea : 2- year contract (As per internal policy, all new staff begin with a 2year contract. Upon completion of the 2-year term, transition to a permanent contract or contract ending depends on evaluation results.
- Taipei, HongKong, Beijing, Tokyo : 3-year contract

绿色和平历史
1971年,12名怀着共同梦想的人从加拿大温哥华启航,驶往安奇卡岛(Amchitka),阻止美国在那里进行核试验。他们在半旧的渔船上挂了一条横幅,上面写着——“绿色和平”。尽管在中途遭到美国军方阻拦,他们的行动却触发了舆论和公众声援。次年美国终于放弃安奇卡岛的核试验。这次小小的行动点燃了星星之火。绿色和平在此后的30多年里最终成长为全球最有影响力的环保组织之一。我们继承了创始人勇敢独立的精神,坚信以行动促成改变。
