The vacancy
We are seeking a young professional to join our growing sustainability team in Shanghai. Our Shanghai office was established in 2014 to meet the growing need for companies integrating sustainability into their Asian operations and value chains.
The successful candidate will be joining as an entry-level Graduate Project Consultant or Project Consultant. This position offers a solid foundation for a career in sustainability consulting. Project Consultants will be responsible for specific tasks, often behind the scenes, but in return, you will have opportunities to acquire vast amounts of knowledge about implementation of various sustainability topics, initiatives, and practical details of the supply chain complexities.
All our consultants will work closely with colleagues and client teams globally, on a wide variety of topics, from labour standards to climate change, from compliance and ESG reporting to strategy and implementation; and across multiple sectors, including fashion, retail, publishing, pharmaceutical, mining and energy solutions etc.
What we are looking for

- Persistence and a practical approach: you are willing to start from the basics, have great attention to detail and can deliver work to a high standard, consistently.
- Good organisation and prioritisation skills: you will be working on multiple workstreams and learn to plan, manage and prioritise deliverables.
- Curiosity and a strong desire to learn: a curious mind and the ability to quickly acquire new knowledge on the different projects and tasks will be essential for your growth.
- Professionalism: Comfortable working in a commercial environment with big businesses across many sectors, able to perform in a professional manner.
- Confidence, fluency in English and native-level Mandarin Chinese: able to work with teammates in both China and across the globe; communicate well when presenting, writing and speaking.
- Technical skills: Ability to assimilate information effectively; Good research skills and ability to write clearly and concisely, adapting style to different audiences; Numeracy proficiency and comfortable working with data; Good command of IT and able to leverage technology for client benefit.
- An undergraduate degree or higher in any subject that enables evidence-based work approach and analytical thinking on sustainability/industry topics.
- Experience in consulting, sustainability, or related fields, demonstrating a successful track record of managing multiple projects and meeting client needs. A mature and business-oriented approach is preferred.
