EarthCorps brings together emerging environmental leaders from around the world to participate in an environmental service program. EarthCorps programs focus on physical hands-on field service that includes:

· Environmental restoration

· Community building

· Leadership

Program Description:

(32 hours a week, 7:30 am to 5:00 pm) Participants take part in environmental restoration projects, such as tree-planting, trail construction, stream restoration, and invasive plant removal. Projects are located throughout Washington State.

Timeline:

· Candidate Nomination Dead Line: September 31, 2009

· Applicant Application Dead Line: October 31, 2009

· Participant selection: November 2009

· Visa processing: December – February 2010

· Travel confirmation: February 2010

· EarthCorps Program starting date: March 2010

· EarthCorps Program graduation: August 2010

Benefits:

EarthCorps international participants will receive:

· a monthly stipend

· health insurance

· homestay family

EarthCorps charges no fees for international participants. Limited travel scholarships are available covering 30% of roundtrip airfare costs up to $820.

Special Requirements:

EarthCorps has established the following minimum criteria to be considered for the program:

· 18-25 years of age

· Conversational English

· No Criminal Record

BEFORE YOU APPLY please note that EarthCorps is required by the US government to ensure that every applicant meets strict criteria in order to qualify for a US J-1 Trainee visa. Before applying please make sure you meet the following minimum criteria:

· 4 year college degree and 1 year of work experience in the environmental field* -OR-

· 5 years of work experience in the environmental field*

HOW TO APPLY:

Qualified candidates should work with their organization to complete the Candidate Nomination Form

In addition to being referred by your organization via the EarthCorps Candidate Nomination form, you will need to send the following documents to EarthCorps before being considered this position(after confirmation of the nomination):

· Resume/C.V.

· Autobiography detailing the applicant’s related experiences working in the environmental field.

· EarthCorps International Participant Application

· EarthCorps Medical Questionnaire complete with signature and authorization stamp.

· Copy of the picture page of your passport and any US Embassy issued stamps and/or visas.
