Introduction: Welcome (10 minutes)

Welcome group of volunteers for coming today

Give short outline of the day’s activities

Each volunteer to introduce themselves to the group

Example: Name, job, location, hobbies

Icebreakers/Get To Know You Games (20 minutes)

Human Knot (10 minutes)

How: Volunteers to put hands in middle and grab another volunteer hands and untangle themselves without letting go of hands

1st time: with talking

2nd time: without talking

Silent line (10 minutes)

How: Volunteers to stand next to each other in order without talking

1st time: birthday: youngest to oldest

2nd time: height: shortest to tallest

3rd time: length of name: shortest to longest

4th time: amount of siblings: least to most

Activity #1 – Group Discussions (30 minutes)

Volunteers to form groups of 4 or 5

One volunteer to lead group discussion and ask everyone to share their answers

One volunteer to write notes of discussion

Questions to ask: 

Why did you decide to volunteer with BYICAA? (5 minutes)

What inspires you about BYICAA? (5 minutes)

What makes BYICAA special? (5 minutes)

What do you enjoy about volunteering with BYICAA? (5 minutes)

What can be improved in the volunteering experience with BYICAA? (5 minutes)

One person to share group feedback with main group (10 minutes)

Materials: paper, pens 

Activity #2– Egg Drop (30 minutes)

Volunteers to form groups of 4 or 5

Groups to build egg package to keep egg safe when it is dropped from a tall height using materials to make a egg package (15 minutes)

Each group to “sell/advertise” their egg to the other groups and why it will work (10 minutes)

Each group to drop egg package from tall height (5 minutes)

Post-Activity – Thankyou from Wang Jie (15 minutes)

Wang Jie to thank volunteers for their time and effort in volunteering for BYICAA over the past 2 years

Wang Jie to explain BYICAA’s plans for next year and the important role that the volunteers will have in BYICAA’s success in the future as partners in furthering BYICAA’s mission

Final Activity – Creative art piece (15 minutes)

Each volunteer to make handprint in paint on the cardboard and sign their name on the card

Take photo with art piece and put it on the website

Volunteer to do a write up of volunteer activity and put it on website, newsletter etc

Lunch (60 minutes)
