Columbia University has established eight global centers around the world in Amman, Beijing, Mumbai, Paris, Istanbul, Nairobi, Santiago, and Rio de Janeiro.
哥伦比亚大学在世界范围内一共建有八所全球中心，分别位于北京、安曼、孟买、巴黎、伊斯坦布尔、内罗毕、圣地亚哥和里约热内卢这八座城市。
The Global Centers were established by Columbia University President Lee Bollinger to meet the challenges of education and globalization as a platform for Columbia students and faculty to understand and engage in the world.
哥大全球中心由哥伦比亚大学校长李•勃林格(Lee Bollinger) 主持设立。其目的是为了迎接高等教育面临全球化所带来的挑战，为了让大学里的老师和学生更多地了解我们的世界，能让他们在一个更广的范围内开展全球性的研究。
The East Asia Center is a regional base in China and East Asia which enables the University’s academic community to interact with faculty, students, and alumni and leverage Columbia University's capabilities to contribute to China and East Asia's growth. The East Asia Center collaborates with other global centers to facilitate cross-regional projects and research globalization and its effects.
哥伦比亚大学东亚全球中心是哥大在中国和东亚的一个基地。东亚全球中心主要促进哥大学术界与当地学生学者及校友的交流互动，并利用哥大卓越的学术研究能力在当地开展多种多样的学术项目，为东亚地区和中国的发展提供建议、评估以及解决方法。
Major foci of the Center include urbanization, including urban design and urban health, economics, sustainable development, international affairs.
东亚全球中心的研究重点涵盖有城市化（包括城市建设、城市健康），经济，可持续发展，国际事务等。
Major projects include the Urban China Initiative, assessing rapid urbanization; Weatherhead Forum, a collaboration with the Weatherhead East Asian Institute; the Global Scholars Program, an undergraduate summer course led by Columbia University faculty in China and at one other global center. The Center is also supporting Antarctic Forum in conjunction with Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory at Columbia, as well as evaluating The Sustainability Consortium’s sustainable sourcing initiative in China in collaboration with Earth Institute.
中心开展的主要科研项目包括研究城市化高速发展问题的城市中国计划（Urban China Initiative）、同我校魏德海东亚研究所（Weatherhead East Asian Institute）合办的魏德海北京论坛，以及一门面向本科生的暑期课程，由哥伦比亚大学教员带队访问中国和另一个全球中心所在地的全球学者调研计划（Global Scholars Program）。中心参与的其他项目包括与哥伦比亚大学Lamont-Doherty地球气象站合作的南极论坛，以及与地球研究院合作的对可持续发展联盟的中国可持续资源计划评估工作。
The network is in its infancy, and each center has started by building strong links with universities and institutions in its respective region. The long-term ambition is that Columbia University will have a global reach and engage in truly global conversations.
哥大全球中心这一网络还在初步发展阶段，每一个中心都已经开始发展和当地大学以及其他组织的合作关系。全球中心的长期目标是让哥大的无数项目延伸至全球，通过多中心的参与及合作创造一个真正的全球性对话交流平台。
