World Pulse Media is pleased to announce a Call for Applicants for Voices of Our Future, an exciting new international women's correspondent network. World Pulse will choose up to 30 applicants who are beginning to use new media to speak for themselves to the world, transform their communities, and change their own lives.
After being selected, the Correspondents will embark on a 4-month journey to the frontiers of new media and women's empowerment. Highlights of the program include training in web 2.0 and citizen journalism by APC Womens Networking Support Programme, coaching sessions by certified coaches from the Empowerment Institute, and publication in World Pulse magazines.
Three of the top correspondents will receive the Voices of Our Future Award and an all expenses paid trip to attend awards ceremonies in the U.S. Additionally, one correspondent will receive a full scholarship to Empowerment Institute Certification Program starting January 2010. http://www.worldpulse.com:80/pulsewire/groups/3740

Welcome to the Voices of Our Future Applicants group! By joining this group, you are embarking on an exciting journey on the frontiers of new media and global womenʼs empowerment. We are thrilled you have decided to apply.
What is Voices of Our Future?
Voices of Our Future is a program for emerging grassroots women leaders who will learn to speak for ourselves to the world using Web 2.0; face barriers and challenges to achieving our dreams through empowerment coaching; and raise awareness about the real issues we, our families and communities face through publication in World Pulse magazines.
Voices of Our Future is a program for emerging grassroots women leaders who will learn to speak for ourselves to the world using Web 2.0; face barriers and challenges to achieving our dreams through empowerment coaching; and raise awareness about the real issues we, our families and communities face through publication in World Pulse magazines.
The application process is an open process that embodies the spirit of Web 2.0. We are aware, however, that this process may be intimidating for any of us unfamiliar with social networking sites and/or presenting their work in such a public forum. World Pulse online community managers will be actively supporting and nurturing the voices during the month-long process, so each candidate is given the love and support they might need to rise to their fullest potential.
Who Can Apply?
Any woman—with emphasis on those from regions where womens' voices are least heard—who demonstrates:
-Regular and reliable access to Internet Communications Technology, including PCs, laptops, internet cafes, or cell phones*
-Involvement with and ability to reach out to local and national networks of women
-Willingness to train others in the use of PulseWire for collaboration and social networking

How do I apply?
The application process is an open process that embodies the spirit of Web 2.0.

Step 1: Join this group by March 14, 2009. Simply click on the orange Join button above. If you are not currently registered or logged in to World Pulse, you will be taken to the login | registration page. After, you will be redirected back to this page. That's it for step one!
Step 2: After you have joined the group, you will be sent a welcome and confirmation email with further instructions. Don't wait to get started! Begin a dynamic dialogue with a pool of women from around the world, exchanging stories, solutions, and information.
Step 3: From March 15th through April 15th, applicants will be given a series of assignments to complete on PulseWire. During this time an international panel of evaluators will be actively searching the pages of PulseWire, on the lookout for applicants whose stories, journal postings, and other contributions reflect positive, solutions-oriented content; highlight the creativity and innovation of women in the local community; and feature ideas with potential to be published in our online and print magazines.
What are the criteria for being chosen as a Voices of Our Future Correspondent?
Evaluators will look for:
-Originality and descriptiveness of posts, including willingness to express your personal opinions on current events and share stories from your life and community. We want your voice to be heard!
-A clear, engaging description of the issues at hand and your ability to draw the reader into the stories described.
-Adventurous use of the website, including active engagement with other users. This might include writing in your online journal, commenting on others posts, joining and engaging in groups, posting needs, resources, and supporting others.
-Positive, solutions-oriented leadership with a vision for how to improve problems faced.
