The Productive Aging in China: Toward Evidence-based Practice and Policy conference seeks papers that contribute to knowledge about the engagement of older adults in activities that strengthen families and communities, including volunteering, family caregiving by older adults, grandparenting, mutual aid, working, social entrepreneurship, and life-long education/training. The focus is on older adults as contributors to families and society — a perspective where the ageing population represents resources to address societal needs and where active engagement can enhance the health of an aging society.

Abstracts should be no more than 500 words. Title, authors, and affiliations should be presented first. These words do not count toward the word limit.

Original research: Abstracts should include research questions, aims, or hypotheses; methods; findings; and implications. Research reported should be completed, not planned.
Program or policy analyses: Abstracts should include a description of the program and policy; analyses of current implementation and effects; and discussion of dissemination/implementation challenges or future directions.
Critical reviews of current literature: Abstracts should include a synthesis and critique of current knowledge; implications of this knowledge for program and policy development; identification of knowledge gaps; and suggestions for on-going research.
Accepted abstracts will be published in the Conference Proceedings.

Email abstracts to ProductiveAging2011@brownschool.wustl.edu. Abstracts are due by April 15, 2011, and authors of accepted abstracts will be notified by May 15, 2011. If you intend to submit an abstract, please register now for the conference as a participant.
Papers will be presented the third day of the conference, August 11, 2011. Paper presentation will be 15 minutes in length.
