NGO Forum on ADB (Forum) is pleased to announce its regular Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) training 2011 in Delhi (India). The participants are welcome from people’s organisation, community based organizations and NGOs from South East Asia, South Asia, Central Asia and Mekong Region who does not have specific professional knowledge on environment, but have initial ADB project monitoring experience and working with related documents and who needs practical knowledge of environment monitoring and environment impact assessment under any ADB and other IFIs funded projects in respective countries.

 The training workshop will be organized in Delhi, India, February 16-17, 2011. The training will be carried out by experienced and high qualified experts with vast experiences on environmental issues especially on EIA. Working language of the training is English.

 As the ADB is marching with mostly 92 projects per year with devastating impact on environment and communities, there is pressing need and demand to build the capacity of civil society groups on EIA for better advocacy and protecting environment. Besides, many local NGOs and communities do not have enough know-how about policies and procedures of ADB related to environment or access to the information. While ADB’s role is becoming bigger in the region, there is a need for such EIA understanding for the communities, people’s movements and Community based organizations and NGOs in the regions.

 Similar trainings have already been carried out in more expanded range by NGO Forum on ADB in Sri Lanka in 2006 and 2007 and EIA regional training in Kyrgyzstan in 2009.

 NGO Forum on ADB will finance airfare, food and accommodation during the training period. The selection of participants will be upon need based and strategic to confer with Forum’s campaign objectives.
