What is it to be human? What is the role of theatre and drama in the 21st Century? DiE and TiE enables children come to know themselves and their world and their relation to it. That is the only way that they can know who they are and accept responsibility for themselves and for others. This lecture will explore the philosophy of DiE and TiE, and a creative dramaturgy that has evolved out of the collaboration between Big Brum TiE Company (internationally renowned for its work with young people for over 25 years), and Edward Bond, regarded by many, particularly in Europe, as Britain’s greatest living playwright.
