　　The BEATRICE BAIN RESEARCH GROUP (BBRG) is the University of California-Berkeley’s feminist research center, established in 1986 to support and coordinate feminist scholarship across disciplines. Among the BBRG’s activities and programs is its Scholars in Residence Program which hosts approximately fifteen scholars, who are competitively selected annually from a national and international pool, for a period of one academic year. Thanks to the generous support of the Li Ka Shing Foundation Fund, the BBRG is able to offer a funded research residency position for a scholar from mainland China for the 2011-2012 academic year. The funding will include: costs of roundtrip travel from China to University of California, Berkeley; visa fees; room and board costs; a research stipendium (which may be used, for example, for travel to conferences in the U.S., books, supplies, etc).

　　The BBRG-LI KA SHING SCHOLAR IN RESIDENCE POSITION

　　The funded BBRG-Li Ka Shing Scholar in Residence position is open to faculty from academic institutions located in mainland China whose work is centrally on gender and women.

　　The scholar selected for this position will be fully a part of the BBRG Scholars in Residence Program and thus will have access to all privileges accorded to all BBRG Scholars in Residence. These include: visiting scholar status at University of California-Berkeley; University of California-Berkeley library privileges; a library orientation session customized for the purposes of the Scholar in Residence’s research; the possibility of University of California-Berkeley student research assistants; shared office space with other BBRG Scholars in Residence and BBRG Affiliated Scholars; shared computer and internet access; a reading/writing group; and a forum for BBRG Scholars in Residence to present their scholarly or creative work to the Berkeley campus community and to the public.

　　BBRG-Li Ka Shing Scholars in Residence are expected to be in residence during the University of California-Berkeley’s academic year (end August to mid May) throughout the year of the residency. They are expected to attend the BBRG Scholars in Residence reading/writing group meetings and BBRG events.

　　4. Supporting materials. Scholars in the humanities, social sciences and natural sciences should submit photocopies of a written work (such as an article, book chapter, or draft thereof) not to exceed 30 pages. Artists should submit photos of artwork; film-makers, copies of films; musicians, a CD copy of their creative work; and creative writers, a text (fiction, non-fiction, play or part thereof) not to exceed 30 pages. Journalists should submit articles not to exceed 30 pages. Please provide a self addressed, stamped envelope or container, or an envelope or container and your fed ex account number, if you wish to have your materials returned to you.
