Today, 72 million children in the world are denied the chance to go to school. These children could be our next generation\'s leaders, doctors and teachers. But they face a lifelong struggle against poverty.

I am writing to ask if you can arrange an event in your community to promote 1GOAL and sign up names for the global petition. 1GOAL will seize the power of football to ensure that education for all is a lasting impact of the 2010 World Cup. Raising our voices all over the world, we can make education a reality for the millions of boys and girls who remain out of school.
There are two things you can do. Firstly please sign the global petition on line via the VSO website: http://www.vsointernational.org/1goal

Secondly can you organize a 1GOAL event or activity? Maybe a football match or sports event in your town? You could get a local sports star to attend and say a few words. Or get an education official to give a speech about the importance of education. Have a laptop available and get everyone to sign up to support 1GOAL.

If you need ideas for how to arrange an event please contact Purna Shrestha or Steve Lewiswho can provide you with ideas. But you don\'t have long, so its better to set up something small but manageable now, rather than have ambitious ideas which you are then too busy to carry out.
The VSO Global Leadership Team are backing 1GOAL. And we hope that staff and volunteers around the world will do the same.
